Sermon: “His Eye is on the Sparrow, and He Watches Over Me”

This Sunday, we'll look at the Gospel reading (Mark 9:38-48) and consider two great truths: 1) the great Fatherly care that our God has for us, and 2) the high demands that come with following Jesus. Resting in God's faithful concern and care for us is what fuels us to be joyful servants of Christ!

Scriptures: James 4:7-12; Psalm 19:7-14; Mark 9:38-48

Sermon Series: "The Church Is An Ark"

Msg 3: "Displaying the Glory of God"

Up to this point in our study, we have been considering the ways in which the Church today functions as an "Ark" (Genesis 6-7), in proclaiming the righteousness of God to the unbelieving world while also providing shelter to those seeking relief from the stormy seas of life.

But there is another "Ark" that is present in the Old Testament – the Ark of the Covenant. This Sunday we'll see how the Church can also be compared to this Ark, in that She displays the glory of the true and living God.

Scriptures:

1 Peter 2:4-10; Psalm 116:1-9; Mark 9:14-29
