Jesus makes it clear that our neighbors are not just those we love, not just those who believe as we believe and behave as we behave. They are the ones our world, culture, and even family tells us to despise because of their differences.
Love thy neighbor.
In a world pushing us to value work above all else, the Lord is calling us to something different. Together we must learn to live as people who value God’s presence.

In Luke 9:62 Jesus said, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Really Jesus, are you kidding, we can’t even look back!? Perhaps were he telling this mini-parable today he might say “you can’t drive your car forward while gazing in the rear-view mirror; that’s downright dangerous!” And it is. Kingdom living, the best kind of living, is living in the present with an eye to the future. It’s not only safe, it will keep us on track to where we’re headed, while keeping us focused on what we’re doing right now. We can’t follow Jesus if we’re not facing forward toward him.
