Being a Person of Peace

Audio:

“The people to whom we minister and speak will not remember 99% of what we say to them, but they will never forget the kind of persons we are...The quality of our souls will indelibly touch others for good or for ill. So we must never forget that the most important thing happening at any moment, in the midst of all our ministers, is the kind of person we are becoming.”

- Dallas Willard, p75, Giving Church Another Chance, T.Hunter, 2010

Are We Looking Back Instead of Forward?

Audio:

*Due to a technical difficulty, this week’s recording is from a backup source. We apologize for the diminished sound quality.

In Luke 9:62 Jesus said, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Really Jesus, are you kidding, we can’t even look back!? Perhaps were he telling this mini-parable today he might say “you can’t drive your car forward while gazing in the rear-view mirror; that’s downright dangerous!” And it is. Kingdom living, the best kind of living, is living in the present with an eye to the future. It’s not only safe, it will keep us on track to where we’re headed, while keeping us focused on what we’re doing right now. We can’t follow Jesus if we’re not facing forward toward him.
