In Jesus’ answer of “render to Caesar...” he is asking a question about image. Whose image are we made in and living into? In whom does our loyalty reside?
The parable we know as the “Prodigal Son” is really about the relentless love of the Father, the father Jesus knew and wants us to know.
Jesus teaches on the link between repentance and fruitfulness in Luke 13, and Paul explains what that means in our Colossians passage. God’s plans for us haven’t changed, but neither has his never failing mercy we sing of in Psalm 103.
Jesus describes our walk in faith using the analogy of four types of soil. This parable was told to an agrarian people whose lives were interwoven with the soil. We will explore how they relate to our walk in faith today and ask ourselves, “Which soil am I like?” As we answer it truthfully, we will prayerfully ask our Lord to move us from where we are to where we need to be.
