New Sermon Series: “Eucharisteo! A life offered up, and poured out”

Msg 3: WISDOM | Pastor Ward Davis

Sermon Description: This week we look at James 3 and what it says about the tongue: Our tongue is an important thermometer for assessing our spiritual health and revealing whether we are living according to God's wisdom, or the world's.

New Sermon Series: “Eucharisteo! A life offered up, and poured out”

Msg 3: Habit | Rev Nick Braunschneider

Sermon Description: It's been said that human beings are "creatures of habit." While we might agree with the statement on some level, it doesn't sit well with many of us. Habits can feel fake, robotic, and lacking heart. People who are highly disciplined in their patterns of living often seem overly rigid, too results-oriented, and "type A" personalities. Isn't authenticity what really matters? Being unstructured might feel more "real," but it's also an easy way to get lost. Habits might just be the very thing your spiritual life lacks...and needs most.

Scriptures: James 2:14-24; Psalm 33:12-21; Matthew 19:16-26

Msg 2: DUTY | Rev Nick Braunschneider

Sermon Description: On this first Sunday in Lent, we are confronted with James' words, "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only..." The idea of having to do something, or "duty," carries with it quite a negative connotation today. Combine "duty" with "God," and images quickly come to mind of drudgery and harsh servitude. The reality is, however, that duty holds an important (even necessary) place in our relationship with our good Lord. Duty, when properly understood, can actually bring us great joy...and does!

Message: "Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak" | Nick Braunschneider

Sermon Description: On this final Sunday before Lent, we celebrate the baptism of a new member of our Apostles family! We'll see how in both the Transfiguration event and in the waters of Baptism, a similar call goes forth from our Lord: a call to death, to obedience, and to glory!

Scriptures: Exodus 24:12-18; Psalm 99; Matthew 17:1-9
